Relapse Prevention Plan
A relapse prevention plan is a short, personal document you can return to when things get hard. It helps you notice trouble early, choose a coping tool, and reach the right person before a moment turns into a setback. This guide walks through what most plans include, with a free template you can fill in, copy, print, or download.
What goes into a plan
- Triggers. The specific people, places, feelings, or times of day that raise your risk. Be concrete: "Friday night alone" is more useful than "loneliness."
- Early warning signs. The first small signals — poor sleep, skipped meals, isolating, resentment building — that show up before a craving hits.
- Coping strategies. Two or three tools you will actually use. Grounding, a walk, a meeting, a cold-water reset, the Steadiora Craving RESET.
- Support network. Names and numbers you can text or call, in order. Include a sponsor, a peer, a professional, and a crisis line.
- Reasons for recovery. The plain-language "why" you can read to yourself in a hard moment.
- If I slip. A pre-agreed next step — not punishment, just a return path. "Text one person. Open the app. Go to the next meeting."

Using your plan
Keep your plan somewhere you can actually reach it — a note on your phone, a card in your wallet, or inside your Steadiora account. Review it weekly for the first month, then monthly. Update it when your life changes: a new job, a move, a loss, a new relationship. A plan is a living document, not a promise.
